Video guide to the Music Speed Changer editor components on Android: Key and BPM, markers, the equalizer and audio effects.

This official video shows how to use the editor components of the Music Speed Changer Android app: Key and BPM, Markers, the Equalizer, and the Effects (Vocal reducer, Compressor, Limiter, Echo, Flanger, Reverb and Mono).

The video was recorded with an earlier version of the app. Today the components are chosen with the Editor components button (the sliders icon at the top right of the editor), the option is called "Join tempo and pitch", and there are extra presets such as Track isolation. The written guides linked below show the current app.

Besides the separate pitch and speed controls, Music Speed Changer has other ways to change your music.

The pitch and tempo sliders can be joined into a single playback rate slider. This works like speeding up or slowing down a vinyl record by hand. Choose "Join tempo and pitch" in the editor components menu to turn this on (the video shows the rate slider being adjusted), and choose it again to go back to separate pitch and tempo controls.

The editor components menu gives you access to many extra features. Choosing a preset arranges the editor screen with a ready-made set of components.

Key and BPM shows the detected musical key and beats per minute of the playing track. The value on the left is the original detected value, and the value on the right is the value after your pitch and tempo changes. Computer BPM detection often comes out at half or double what a person would count as the actual BPM. If this happens, tap the original BPM value and change it to the correct value.

Markers lets you set markers (bookmarks) at places in a track, and the app remembers them. To jump to your markers, tap the seek-to-marker buttons on either side of the add-marker button. You can also jump to a marker by tapping it in the Markers list. From each marker's menu you can create a loop from marker positions, change the marker's time with the keyboard, or delete it.

Equalizer shows a preamp (gain) control, a left/right balance control, and a graphic equalizer. Each one is turned on and off with its switch, and the equalizer can be expanded or collapsed with the button next to its label. After adjusting the equalizer, you can save and recall your settings with the Save preset and Load preset buttons.

Effects shows a range of effects you can apply to your music. They work like the equalizer controls. Some effects, such as Echo and Flanger, have a time setting based on the BPM: tap Sync to match the time setting to the BPM of the playing track.

With the Custom preset you choose your own mix of components. Tap "Configure custom…" to pick which components appear when the Custom preset is selected.
