Can I use music from Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music or another streaming service?

No. Streaming apps don't let other apps use their audio, and the ones that do have terms of service that prohibit changing the sound. Some services let you buy and download individual tracks as MP3 files (often only from a computer's web browser). You can copy those files to your device and use them with Music Speed Changer. Check your service's help pages for instructions.

The app stops when I'm listening in the background. How do I fix it?

Usually a battery optimizer is shutting Music Speed Changer down in the background. These optimizers often come from the phone manufacturer and only leave pre-installed apps alone. Turn on Allow background use in the app's Settings, and follow the steps for your phone at dontkillmyapp.com. See The App Stops Playing in the Background for details.

The music sometimes pauses unexpectedly. Why?

Another app is probably asking to play audio, which makes Music Speed Changer pause. You can tell the app to keep playing: see Playing Audio Over Other Apps.

Playback and saved files are too quiet. How can I make them louder?

Music Speed Changer plays at the track's original volume. To make it louder, turn on the preamp in the Equalizer layout and raise it above 0 dB. Don't raise it too far, or loud parts may clip (distort), especially if you've lowered the pitch or boosted the equalizer. See Turning Up the Volume with the Preamp.

How do I save a track with my changes?

In the editor, tap the ⋮ menu and choose Save edited track…. See Saving Edited Tracks.

Is there an easier way to set the pitch precisely?

Yes. You can type an exact value, turn on plus/minus buttons, or snap the pitch slider to whole semitones. See Adjusting Pitch and Tempo Precisely.

Can I change the colors?

Yes. You can switch to a dark or AMOLED black theme and choose accent colors. See Dark Theme, AMOLED Black and Accent Colors.

Songs have disappeared from my playlists. What can I do?

Playlists point to the song files on your device. If a file is moved, renamed or deleted, it disappears from the playlist. Put the file back where it was, or add it to the playlist again. If you restored a backup on a new phone, open Settings → Backup & restore and use Re-link missing tracks after copying your music over. How can I save files at a higher quality?

Edited tracks are saved as 320 kbps MP3 files by default, the highest MP3 bitrate. In Settings, under Save edited track, you can also turn on Maximum encoding quality, or choose wav or flac as the file format for lossless files. See Save Settings: File Format, Quality and Save Location.

The playback isn't smooth. I hear static, crackling or glitches.

Lowering the processing load on your device usually fixes this. See Static, Crackling or Skipping During Playback.

Can I use an external equalizer or effects app with Music Speed Changer?

Yes. Update to the latest version of the app, and if the external app still has no effect, turn off Use native audio library under Settings → Advanced. See Using an External Equalizer or Effects App.

How do I remove the ads?

Upgrade to Pro to remove ads permanently. See Upgrading to Music Speed Changer Pro.

How do I move my playlists, markers and settings to a new phone?

Use Backup & restore in Settings. See Backing Up and Restoring Playlists, Markers and Settings.

Why is the app rated "Teen"?

The app may occasionally show ads for products that aren't suitable for younger audiences, such as dating apps or sexual health information.
